Ever since the boat show, I have been shopping for things I want for my new Hobie Cat. Today my sailing shoes came. James thinks they look very retro - I am excited about how functional they'll be. See all the holes in the sole? They drain straight out the bottom...how cool is that? Now it needs to be April so the boat is here!

Remember the other day...when it was below zero? Well here it is, still January, and my car says it's 50. And this is when I'm on my way home. According to the news, it was warmer in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, winter returns tomorrow. While it rained today, tomorrow we're back to snow and freezing temperatures. So much for global warming.

Yay construction!

I forgot how much I loved seeing construction come together! Dale got all of the drywalling done - now it's on to taping and mudding! Those closet doors will be coming in from the garage for stain and varnish before I know it! This is just a sampling - he got six openings finished.

Happy Birthday St. John Lutheran Church! This year marks our 147th anniversary, and we worshipped around our old altar this morning.

Back in the construction zone

And does it feel like home! Closet construction started today! The frames are in (after the usual construction problems) and now it's time for drywall! There's sawdust in the kitchen again, and stuff everywhere, but I am so excited to be working on projects again, and having Dale here to be doing them with me.

Stars & Stripes

One of my biggest shortcomings has been filling the frames that I have, and finding wall space for various pieces. I have vowed to take care of that, and my recent nails have hung these stars that my sister got me quite a while ago. Sorry, Kristin! They sure do look nice now, hanging downstairs.

Baby it's cold outside...

We are stuck in a cold snap, and this was the temperature when I got into my car this morning. The wind chill was something like -20...just a little cold.

And it's baaaaaaaaaaaack...yes, the miter saw is once more in the kitchen. Next project - working on the closet doors. Dale and Jeff and Kyle made a trip to Menards today for the 2x4s and drywall. And so it continues...

I was a little nervous about how this picture was going to look once it was downloaded. It always seems that I get a lot of sun spots when I shoot too much into the sun. But I think I like it.

Apparently Trinka was concerned that something would happen to her ball if she put it down to eat her dinner...so it ended up in the bowl until she finished. Sometimes she really cracks me up.

We were down at the boat show today and heard a wonderful story from an ex-navy submarine sailor. What came out of it was a 4-pack of "Torpedo Juice" in return for a donation to childhood cancer patients. There was really no way to say no.

Yes, my decorating continues. The grass pictures have finally made it up on the wall in the living room, and that candle sconce that I wasn't sure about...well it's growing on me now that it's up on the wall.

Apparently the deer were not happy that the bird feeders were empty. We were pretty surprised to see so many of them. And I have to work on losing the reflections from the windows!

Mother Nature was not very nice to us last night. I don't mind rain and I'll even tolerate snow, but when the ice falls from the sky, it just makes a big mess that's really hard to clean up. These are my car windows from the inside out...and that's after I'd already been to church and ran my errands. I'm sure it will still be waiting for me in the morning.

You would think that since the snow is melting Trinka would want to hang out on the grass. Apparently not - the bone must taste better lying in the snow in my flower garden. Never would've thought it.

Too pretty to put away

Some Christmas decorations are just too pretty to be put away at the end of the season. This Woodland Santa that we got from Trent, Amy and Chase this year is one of them.

I always have such terrible luck with poinsettias. This one is at Cindy's. It's nice and compact, and doesn't have the leggy characteristics mine always have by the time they get to this point in the season.

Taking down the Christmas decorations has renewed my efforts to finish the house decorating that didn't get done before Dale got home. The cross I found at the last Women of the ELCA convention has found a wonderful place in front of the living room window, where the sunshine can find it. This picture definitely does not do it justice.

Today was Christmas tree tear down, and after a few hours, Dale and I had the house put back together and all of the Christmas decorations stowed under the stairs. Now on to bowling and the Packer game!

The deer have been busy...emptying the bird feeders - and their trails are everywhere. They've been emptying them all summer, too, so I guess it shouldn't be any big surprise.

Only in Wisconsin will you find a beer named after cows with cows on the label. I'm told it's very good beer, and my military boys are sad that it's not available in their parts of the country.

Welcome 2013!

Seeing as I never thought I would be able to take pictures for 365 consecutive days, I feel pretty accomplished to have taken them for an additional 100 days more. This year I hope to broaden my horizons and take pictures just to take them - and have absolutely nothing to say about them. Somehow I'm not sure I'll be able to do that, but we will see. I did finish with my new family wall in the hallway. This picture would have been much better taken in the daylight, but beggars can't be choosers.
