Cleaning treasures

Photo 365 + 130 - January 31

One of the best parts of cleaning out things is the treasures you find. This looks to be a Laura original...but anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it spring yet?

Photo 365 + 129 - January 30

Ever since the boat show, I have been shopping for things I want for my new Hobie Cat. Today my sailing shoes came. James thinks they look very retro - I am excited about how functional they'll be. See all the holes in the sole? They drain straight out the bottom...how cool is that? Now it needs to be April so the boat is here!

It's January, right?

Photo 365 + 128 - January 29

Remember the other day...when it was below zero? Well here it is, still January, and my car says it's 50. And this is when I'm on my way home. According to the news, it was warmer in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, winter returns tomorrow. While it rained today, tomorrow we're back to snow and freezing temperatures. So much for global warming.

Yay construction!

Photo 365 + 127 - January 28

I forgot how much I loved seeing construction come together! Dale got all of the drywalling done - now it's on to taping and mudding! Those closet doors will be coming in from the garage for stain and varnish before I know it! This is just a sampling - he got six openings finished.

Heritage Sunday

Photo 365 + 126 - January 27

Happy Birthday St. John Lutheran Church! This year marks our 147th anniversary, and we worshipped around our old altar this morning.

Back in the construction zone

Photo 365 + 125 - January 26

And does it feel like home! Closet construction started today! The frames are in (after the usual construction problems) and now it's time for drywall! There's sawdust in the kitchen again, and stuff everywhere, but I am so excited to be working on projects again, and having Dale here to be doing them with me.

Sigh.....

Photo 365 + 124 - January 25

That awful white stuff fell from the sky...again...

Ladybugs = Love

Photo 365 + 123 - January 24

Just a bright, appropriate thought for the day. Ladybugs do equal love...at least they do in my family.

Stars & Stripes

Photo 365 + 122 - January 23

One of my biggest shortcomings has been filling the frames that I have, and finding wall space for various pieces. I have vowed to take care of that, and my recent nails have hung these stars that my sister got me quite a while ago. Sorry, Kristin! They sure do look nice now, hanging downstairs.

Baby it's cold outside...

Photo 365 + 121 - January 22

We are stuck in a cold snap, and this was the temperature when I got into my car this morning. The wind chill was something like -20...just a little cold.

And it's baaaaaaaaaaaack...yes, the miter saw is once more in the kitchen. Next project - working on the closet doors. Dale and Jeff and Kyle made a trip to Menards today for the 2x4s and drywall. And so it continues...

Morning sun

Photo 365 + 120 - January 21

I was a little nervous about how this picture was going to look once it was downloaded. It always seems that I get a lot of sun spots when I shoot too much into the sun. But I think I like it.

Better with the ball

Photo 365 + 119 - January 20

Apparently Trinka was concerned that something would happen to her ball if she put it down to eat her dinner...so it ended up in the bowl until she finished. Sometimes she really cracks me up.

Torpedo Juice!

Photo 365 + 118 - January 19

We were down at the boat show today and heard a wonderful story from an ex-navy submarine sailor. What came out of it was a 4-pack of "Torpedo Juice" in return for a donation to childhood cancer patients. There was really no way to say no.

Heading out

Photo 365 + 117 - January 18

Trinka knows that when we are leaving the house she will get something. She sits patiently on the rug and knows to take it nice and easy. Fingers are safe once more.

Art...Mother Nature Style

Photo 365 + 116 - January 17

It's amazing how spectacular a little bit of ice can look...

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

And on and on...

Photo 365 + 115 - January 16

Yes, my decorating continues. The grass pictures have finally made it up on the wall in the living room, and that candle sconce that I wasn't sure about...well it's growing on me now that it's up on the wall.

Feed me!

Photo 365 + 114 - January 15

Apparently the deer were not happy that the bird feeders were empty. We were pretty surprised to see so many of them. And I have to work on losing the reflections from the windows!

Going down

Photo 365 + 113 - January 14

The sunset may not have been quite as colorful as other ones I've put up here, but it is spectacular nonetheless.

Little bit icy

Photo 365 + 112 - January 13

Mother Nature was not very nice to us last night. I don't mind rain and I'll even tolerate snow, but when the ice falls from the sky, it just makes a big mess that's really hard to clean up. These are my car windows from the inside out...and that's after I'd already been to church and ran my errands. I'm sure it will still be waiting for me in the morning.

Better with snow

Photo 365 + 111 - January 12

You would think that since the snow is melting Trinka would want to hang out on the grass. Apparently not - the bone must taste better lying in the snow in my flower garden. Never would've thought it.

Mmmmmm bread

Photo 365 + 110 - January 11

Laura may not be thrilled about her job, but she does make some awesome stuff and is more than happy to share. This morning Cindy, Kristin and I got some more wonderful sundried tomato asiago topped bread.

Too pretty to put away

Photo 365 + 109 - January 10

Some Christmas decorations are just too pretty to be put away at the end of the season. This Woodland Santa that we got from Trent, Amy and Chase this year is one of them.

Winter flowers

Photo 365 + 108 - January 9

I always have such terrible luck with poinsettias. This one is at Cindy's. It's nice and compact, and doesn't have the leggy characteristics mine always have by the time they get to this point in the season.

On fire...

Photo 365 + 107 - January 8

Sometimes I am in complete amazement of the colors that can fill the sky.

Three more years!

Photo 365 + 106 - January 7

And there's a new license to go along with the new rabies tag. Trinka is good and healthy and even losing weight!

Sunday, January 6, 2013

Happy Sunday!

Photo 365 + 105 - January 6

Taking down the Christmas decorations has renewed my efforts to finish the house decorating that didn't get done before Dale got home. The cross I found at the last Women of the ELCA convention has found a wonderful place in front of the living room window, where the sunshine can find it. This picture definitely does not do it justice.

Until next year

Photo 365 + 104 - January 5

Today was Christmas tree tear down, and after a few hours, Dale and I had the house put back together and all of the Christmas decorations stowed under the stairs. Now on to bowling and the Packer game!

Always hungry

Photo 365 + 103 - January 4

The deer have been busy...emptying the bird feeders - and their trails are everywhere. They've been emptying them all summer, too, so I guess it shouldn't be any big surprise.

Only in Wisconsin...

Photo 365 + 102 - January 3

Only in Wisconsin will you find a beer named after cows with cows on the label. I'm told it's very good beer, and my military boys are sad that it's not available in their parts of the country.

Long cold winter...

Photo 365 + 101 - January 2

Sure wish it was warm enough outside right now to swing...all that's hanging from my "swinging tree" are empty chains.

Welcome 2013!

Photo 365 + 100 - January 1

Seeing as I never thought I would be able to take pictures for 365 consecutive days, I feel pretty accomplished to have taken them for an additional 100 days more. This year I hope to broaden my horizons and take pictures just to take them - and have absolutely nothing to say about them. Somehow I'm not sure I'll be able to do that, but we will see. I did finish with my new family wall in the hallway. This picture would have been much better taken in the daylight, but beggars can't be choosers.
