Keeping time

Photo 365 + 362 - September 30

When Laura went to Germany while she was in high school, my only request was that she bring me back a cuckoo clock. As long as I remember to wind it, it keeps good time downstairs in the family room. When the grandkids are in town, the winding is well taken care of.

Call Me Jonathan

Photo 365 + 361 - September 29

There are actually apples on my trees that the worms haven't gotten! I had one yesterday, and while it was pretty tart, the flavor was awesome!

Thistles?

Photo 365 + 360 - September 28

These were just too pretty to pull out yesterday.

Smoke on the water...

Photo 365 + 359 - September 27

We've been under dense fog warnings every morning for the last couple days, and today was a great opportunity to get some pictures before the rest of it burned off the pond I pass on the way to work.

Ready for bed

Photo 365 + 358 - September 26

This picture was actually taken just by the light of the TV. Unfortunately the lack of light did nothing to hide the amount of dog hair still on the floor. You can definitely tell that Trinka is in "high shed" mode.

My One and Only

Photo 365 + 357 - September 25

My Citrus Splash rose bush had a really slow start this year. It started sprouting, and then died back, to the point I figured it was done for. But it wasn't totally down for the count. I might have only gotten one bloom this season, but what a beautiful bloom it is.

The Beauty of Fall

Photo 365 + 356 - September 24

The flowers are pretty in bloom and even as they die in the fall. These are my peonies.

They planted them where?

Photo 365 + 355 - September 23

Those squirrels plant my sunflower seeds in the craziest places. This is the best one yet.

Yummmmm...

Photo 365 + 354 - September 22

Anyone who hasn't had cottage cheese and fresh garden tomatoes does not know what they're missing.

Yup he's 18

Photo 365 + 353 - September 21

I've told Kristin many times how fast kids grow up...I think she's finally believing me.

And the sunset was too beautiful on the way home to not stop and snap a few extra pictures.

Fall Colors

Photo 365 + 352 - September 20

These are late bloomers this year, but their colors are sure appropriate.

Weakness

Photo 365 + 351 - September 19

Chocolate is a huge weakness for me...and add mint and it's all over with.

Good morning!

Photo 365 + 350 - September 18

And thank you, God, for a beautiful start to the day!

Lacey

A little bit of Queen Anne's Lace...happy to see things still in bloom.

Just Because

Photo 365 + 348 - September 16

I came home to find Dale fixing dinner and fresh flowers on the table - just because. I actually think it was because he blew me off for grocery shopping on Sunday...but regardless, it was a nice surprise.

Hello Avery

Photo 365 + 347 - September 15

This little guy came into the world a little bit earlier than planned, weighing only 3 lbs. 7 oz. He now tips the scale right around 5 lbs., and is just a couple days shy of his original due date. I'm very excited to be making plans with Kyle and Krystle to shoot their first family photos. Such a sweet baby and wonderful parents!

Take me out to the ballgame...

Photo 365 + 346 - September 14

Today's Brewers game was brought to me courtesy of Laura. She had tickets from work and invited me to go along. We had a great time and have decided we need to plan a few more of these mother-daughter outings!

Closing in on full

Photo 365 + 345 - September 13

Photographing the moon is so super cool when the landscape of it is so visible.

I love that song...and rainbows...

Never forget...

Photo 365 + 343 - September 11

Every year since the attack on the United States, Saukville has held a vigil to remember those lost on September 11. It's hard to capture the event on film - nothing is quite the same as watching the silent fire trucks roll down the street with just their lights flashing.

Still blooming

Photo 365 + 342 - September 10

The blooming is getting close to its end, I'm afraid. But it's nice to still be able to have some flowers to photograph.

And a very happy 1st birthday today, Edyn!

Happy Sunday

Photo 365 + 340 - September 8

It's Packer time! A very nail biting game, and some bad calls...but it's nice to have busy Sunday afternoons again. And my picture today is just something random!

Yes, we ran...

Photo 365 + 339 - September 7

Although Dale can run much better than I can, he took his time today and stayed at my pace at the Trot for Troops. We did a modified run-walk, and I did have my best 5K time to date and as you can see, Kitchen Pass Charters was even a sponsor.

We also attended Family Day at the base, and somebody took some time to make some special cookies. These, and some pretty nifty helicopters.

Catch!

Photo 365 + 338 - September 6

Such attention and focus! When it comes to her ball, Trinka hardly takes her eye off of it when it's being thrown. And she's a pretty good catch too!

Feed me!

Photo 365 + 337 - September 5

I really think that baby looks big enough to feed itself, but apparently a mother's work is never done.

Garden relief...

Photo 365 + 336 - September 4

I actually get kind of attached to my flowers - I spend a lot of time picking them out and finding the perfect place in my gardens to plant them. This spring, I waited and waited, and my favorite hibiscus still wasn't sprouting. This hibiscus got huge every year, and the flowers that bloomed were the size of plates. It was the backdrop for a bunch of Kayla's maternity photos when she was pregnant with Josephine, and I was very sad that it looked like it didn't make it through last summer's drought. I was happy and surprised when I finally saw some buds, and now, with the growing season almost over, it's finally blooming. It's no where what it was, but it is.

More Hitchhikers

Photo 365 + 335 - September 3

These little guys are alsoproducts of the sunflowers I feed the birds in the front yard feeder. They are nothing like the sunflower in the back yard, although the seeds come from the same bag. Interesting stuff...

Who am I?

Photo 365 + 334 - September 2

This little guy was sitting on the end of the pier when we took a walk by the boat this afternoon. He was pretty sassy...putting his leg down every time I took a couple steps toward him, and then picking it back up when I'd squat for a few more shots. I've done some online research but I haven't been able to identify him yet. Any ideas?

Inside my hibiscus

Photo 365 + 333 - September 1

I'm always amazed at what things look like close up...the inside of my new hibiscus is no exception.
