I literally chased two blocks up the street to try to get a picture I liked of tonight's crescent moon. And of course the one I finally liked the best was taken in my own front yard.

I have quite a field of them growing in one of the backyard gardens, and they offer some awesome photo opportunities.

I learned all about My Little Pony when I was visiting with Kayla and the kids. Rainbow Dash was always in demand, so I figured Edyn should maybe start her own collection.

And she still makes me nervous when she gets gutsy and tries to walk down them. It's a long way to the bottom.

Poor Laura - the room was so small and hot and the dress is so heavy she had to take a break. We kind of overwhelmed her seamstress, so happy thoughts that everything turns out perfectly.

And there is no shortage of flowers in the yard for Edyn to check out!

And when Nana and Papa play volleyball Edyn gets all kinds of treats - she really likes the popcorn.

This is Spaz, and he's been pretty comfortable here since Day 1. Trinka is still trying to figure out what he is.

I am thrilled with the flower pictures that I have been able to capture with the new camera. Unbelievable difference from the 60D. Now I have to get as good covering the moving subjects.

James thinks he kind of likes my macro lens, and did a little playing of his own shooting my flowers. Edyn likes my flowers too - so much some of them are missing some petals.

We see so much more personality in person than we ever did talking to Edyn on Skype! She is definitely a pistol!

They made it! So now we are 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 adults and one little person more in our household. I've said it once but it bears repeating - let the adventure begin!

After a perfectly wonderful flight and an awesomely behaved almost 2-year-old, Edyn and I are back in Wisconsin. Mommy and Daddy should arrive some time tomorrow. And the adventure begins...

This picture sums up the great relationship James had with the leadership at his squadron. So many people got up and said great things about him today. Happy Retirement!

Hello Edyn (and James and Liz)! Final preparations for their move, and a couple days for Edyn to get a little used to me before we fly back to Milwaukee on Thursday.

Trip to California - check. Next trip - Florida, to pick up Edyn for James and Liz's move back to Wisconsin.

Meet Zen - Kristin and I had a blast doing her senior shoot. So much personality!

When spring came and this rose didn't have any new growth, I was sure that it wasn't coming back. It would have been the only casualty after the brutal winter we had. But apparently it was just a late starter. I love the orange blooms!

These guys went absolutely bananas when I was gone - in both pink and yellow. I'm going to have to do some serious thinning or I'm going to lose everything else!

Back to photographing my flowers - and there are a lot to look at! I wasn't sure I liked how my new camera was working while I was taking my macro shots, but looking at the pictures has totally changed my mind. Wow! I am amazed at how different they look with the 6D vs. the 60D.

It's been a great visit, but it's time for Grandma to head home and get ready for Family Part 2. We had a fun breakfast together while we let Mommy try to catch up on her rest.

Josie and Evie are now beautiful Hawaiian girls, showing off their new dresses and bracelets. I think it's going to be a trial trying to get them off of them for bed. But they are definitely happy to have their mommy home.

I think they'd be happy in that pool every day. We are giving it our best shot!

Visits aren't complete without at least one attempt at a photo shoot. I was a little worried about how my camera handled the fall yesterday, because of course I was looking to capture some great shots at the park. It doesn't seem to be any worse for wear, and James reminded me that this is why we have warranties...

We had a little too much excitement today, with Grandma taking a digger with Evie on her hip. Evie hit her head, and Grandma is bruised up, but we're hoping recovery will be quick. Apparently it was an exhausting and traumatic day.

It's really nice that the complex Kenn and Kayla live in has a pool just steps from the stairway up to their apartment. We are going to take full advantage of it, and the kids are not complaining.
