Photo 354 - September 11
I don't always pride myself on having the best memory for events, but I can remember quite vividly the morning of September 11, 2001. I was sitting at my desk listening to the radio when the planes hit the towers, and we sat around the TV most of the day, mesmerized by the events, and not quite believing that it actually happened. Saukville has held a 9/11 commemoration every year since 2001, beginning with a silent parade and ending with a ceremony at the park. Most years I walk with the parade, since Dale participates with the Legion. But since I was by myself this year, I spent it on the road watching. Words cannot describe watching all of the firetrucks and rescue vehicles with their lights blazing, but completely silent.
